TOP - Our Business
Japan Composite Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established in April 2003 by Mitsui Takeda Chemicals, Inc. (currently Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.) and Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd. to strengthen the unsaturated polyester resins business and the molding materials business.
Establishing an integrated business model encompassing all stages from raw materials to unsaturated polyester resins, molding materials and press molding within the corporate group, it is the one and only company in Japan that specializes in the unsaturated polyester resins and molding materials businesses.
Unsaturated polyester resins are light weight, high strength and non-corrosive. They are widely used as materials for fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) in many familiar applications.
Produced chiefly from unsaturated polyester resins and reinforced fibers, molding materials (SMC, TMC and BMC) have excellent mechanical properties and also excellent designability, dimensional stability, flame retardancy and electrical characteristics that they are widely used in bathtubs and other plumbing products, automotive parts, electrical components and other products.
Press molding is a kind of compression molding for processing molding materials (SMC, TMC, BMC). It is such an efficient molding method conducted under high-temperature high-pressure conditions that it can be done in an approximately 10-minute cycle.
